FarmLinks Announces Profile and DryJect Partnership in “On the Course” Program

February 14, 2007
Described by golf course superintendents as "the most beneficial three days of the year," The Experience at FarmLinks is the nation's premier source for hands-on course maintenance information. And with its new "On the Course" program, The Experience offers guests an unmatched opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the latest and greatest materials and methods in the industry? while touring the championship, 18-hole FarmLinks Golf Course.
Newest to join the On the Course program is Profile Products LLC, a longtime FarmLinks' partner. Profile Products manufactures a broad line of inorganic soil amendments for golf courses, sports fields and landscaping as well as turf establishment products and erosion and sediment control products and accessories. Plus, DryJect, which was recently acquired by Profile, manufactures a revolutionary machine that can inject large amounts of amendments directly into the ground.
"We have been involved with FarmLinks since the beginning when they built their greens using ProfileT Porous Ceramic (PPC)," said Sam Stimmel, director of Profile Golf. "Now we're taking steps to build the partnership and bring even greater benefit to both of us, and to all the superintendents who visit."
As part of the new On the Course Tour, superintendents learn about PPC particles, including the latest enhancement of ProfileT Greens GradeT Emerald and Field & FairwayT Emerald. Added to sand or soil, these emerald-green colored particles provide agronomic benefits to promote long-term turf health as well as improve the aesthetics of a golf course.
"We've been using Profile at FarmLinks for years," stated Mark Langner, FarmLinks director of agronomy and applied research. "As the world's first research and demonstration golf course, we continually conduct product research and demonstrations, and one of our ongoing trials has been with Profile. For example, our putting green contains three different soils: sand, a 90% sand and 10% peat mix, and an 85% sand and 15% Profile mix. The sand/Profile mix has performed best, with stronger overall rooting system, porosity and infiltration."
On the new tour, FarmLinks visitors also learn about the benefits of the revolutionary DryJect service. "We began using DryJect last year, and it's been a part of the On the Course program since 2007," Langner explained. "We're able to demonstrate how DryJect is a valuable addition to our aerification methodology, allowing for us to amend the soil with greater frequency and with less impact to our golfers; it's an innovative process that will save time and money in maintaining turf. Superintendents are seeing the future of golf here. This is definitely an exciting time for us and for Profile."
According to Jim Tanner, Profile's executive vice president of marketing, "We are proud to be partnering with FarmLinks for the coming years. It's an amazing facility for learning and a great opportunity to be directly involved with top superintendents."
